Many years ago I saw an instructional video by Eric Johnson in which he used a tape-echo to loop a simple chord progression and then improvised over the top. I thought it was so cool that one person could make so much music. But I also thought it would be a great way to work on my own improvisational skills and melodic phrasing.
In this video I show you how to do the same thing using one of my favorite iOS apps, JamUp Pro XT. Not only does it has great built-in sounds (just listen to the video) but it also comes with a simple looper that’s great for this kind of exercise.
