How many more secret unreleased Hendrix tracks can they find? Well, apparently at least dozen more. According to Rolling Stone, the mythical “they” have found said tracks and will be releasing them as a new album titled “People, Hell and Angels” in March. These tunes are left-overs from the “First Rays of the New Rising Sun” which was released posthumously in 1997.
You have to wonder though, who is really steering the ship with an eye towards Jimi’s artistic vision. Control over his estate and artistic material has been a long battle for the Hendrix family. Even if they manage to put the genie back in the bottle and wrest control of all of Jimi’s work, no one can honestly say what Jimi would have wanted. Sometimes artists leave stuff off of albums because it isn’t good enough. Sure, you and I might like it because we’re rabid fans. But they hold themselves to a higher standard.
Aww, but who am I kidding? I’m sure I’ll buy it when it comes out and you probably will too. Another shot at peaking inside the mad genius of Hendrix? Where I do put my money down?
