This is one of my all-time favorite guitar solos because of its almost-lyrical phrasing. This is, quite literally, a guitar solo you can sing aloud. Clapton not only lays down some very tasty licks, but he also plays with timing and phrasing to give the solo two distinct halves that finishes with a real bang at the end.
So grab your guitar and learn how to play one of the all time great rock and roll guitar solos!
If you have an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, one of the best ways to learn this song is with Anytune. I’ve created an Anytune settings file that contains markers for each major section of the song as well as “loop” sections for each phrase described in the video. With Anytune you can slow the track down to a comfortable pace until you can play the solo note-for-note.
Check out this brief video tutorial I made showing you how to import Six String Recess markers files directly into Anytune.
The Anytune file was created from the track originally released on Disraeli Gears. If you don’t already have this in your music library, you can get it directly from iTunes.
